I was not always an open minded individual. I had an opinion on everything whether I knew anything about it or not and I stuck to that opinion come hell or high water… People that know me personally know that today I keep an open mind. I want to hear the details before I make a decision. I continue to have strong opinions but I always leave room for movement within those beliefs. I have learned that nothing is dogma, nothing. But in order to grow I must remain humble, loving, caring and focused on the main thing.
Saying that it made me think this morning that I must be ever vigilant of my attitude and keep an open mind. I must treat everyone with the dignity they deserve as human beings, including myself. I need to be careful how I talk to people, and that includes me as well. I must build others up rather than dismiss their opinion even when it goes against all common sense. People are permitted to reject me and the principles of recovery that work for me. I am not the keeper of the universe although at times I act as if I am.
