For recovering or recovered alcoholics and addicts the holidays can be a trying period of time on our sobriety. Talk in the rooms often swings to the holiday, the temptations and of course the solutions to overcome any temptations. The Fourth of July, The Day of Independence for the United States of America is one of those holidays that tends to lend itself to outdoor “parties” the barbecues! But when we focus on the solution and focus on what we want in our lives we have the Freedom to choose recovery!
The greatest Freedom we have in life is the Freedom of “Choice.” The recovered life often starts with some sort of coercion, some outside force that says, “get help or else…” But true recovery comes when we “opt in” and say Yes to Life! When we make the choice to live substance Free, when we go for it in life, when we begin to live up to our abilities and beyond. Our Freedom isn’t Free, it begins with a choice, and sustains itself every day with that same choice, “live life to it’s fullest, substance Free!”
Our greatest Freedom is Choice, the Freedom to chose… Life is Goooooood!
