Freedom from the bondage of self is not free we must work for it. I have heard it said that Freedom is not Free. There is a price to pay for freedom. The same 
is true of the freedom from addiction. The beginning or the “detox” is not free of pain. The first stages of recovery are not free, there is pain involved. To overcome the pain and enjoy a life of freedom we must work for it. When I met my first real sponsor he gave me an index sized card with the Third Step and Seventh Step Prayers printed on it. I used that card as my bookmark for my 24 hour meditation book.

Since that day I awaken in the morning and say my prayers, meditation and read those two prayers. Followed by my prayer for others.
| Third Step Prayer
“God, I offer myself to thee to build with me and to do with me as thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do thy will. Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of thy power, thy love, and thy way of life. May I do thy will always!!” Seventh Step Prayer “My creator, I am now willing that you should have all of me, good and bad. I pray that you now remove from me every single defect of character which stands in the way of my usefulness to you and my fellows. Grant me strength, as I go out from here to do your bidding. Amen.” God, I pray for: Anyone that I have ever seen or heard including…….. ♦ Living this way of life has taken working the steps of recovery.
