I just got off the phone with one of the most amazing men I have ever met. When I hung-up enormous emotion engulfed me. Jack Jackson made an impact in my life in a very short period of time. I was fortunate enough to spend two years learning from him. When I say he is one of the most amazing men I truly mean it. He is approaching 82 years of age and 52 years of continuous sobriety. But that is not the amazing aspect of Jack’s life.
Jack is a man of integrity, he is a helper and a pioneer in life — a winner! He makes everyone that meets him feel and believe they are special. He is wise and has insight into the human condition beyond recovery. He treats everyone with respect and dignity and is forever the teacher. His mantra, “Life is meant to be enjoyed and not endured”!
When we opened our treatment center in Panama, Jack was the first to offer his help to me. He mentored me and taught me as if I was his son. He showed up a few times per week even though he lived 45 minutes away. He taught and ran groups with and for us. Never once accepting a penny not even for gas!
To say I am filled with joy right now is an understatement, if you knew Jack you would comprehend my feelings. What does this have to do with winning? Everything, cause when you get right on down to it, winning is making an impact in other peoples lives, Jack has done that thousands upon thousands of times and continues to do so personally and through others that have been touched by his care!
