Recovery does come with a price tag, not only the price of admission, i.e. getting sober you must pay the price, it takes work. To stay sober we must pay the price by helping others to attain the same. Recovery is a gift, in the beginning it may not seem that way and it sounds like an oxymoron. It feels more like a loss of “the fun” or the “party”. But as we grow we realize that if we continued to drink and or drug we are destined to live a life of continued unpredictability at best.
For me personally I was miserable and living a life of quiet desperation. I was sick and tired of living the way I was living. I was surrounded by people that thought I was having fun, but the truth is that inside I was dead. I was willing to pay the price to recover. Today I am grateful that I followed the people that put their hand out to me. The people that told me it was worth it! Today I attempt to do the same.
