What we put in we will get out, we sow what we reap. If we plant vegetables we will harvest food to sustain us. If we plant weeds we will be full of inconsistency and recklessness. If we plant poison we will be killing ourselves and others around us. Simply because we plant does not mean we will harvest a winning crop. It is the same in recovery, just because you go to a meeting does not mean you have planted food for thought!
I watch people on their phones texting, playing word games, talking, playing grab-ass or never making it in the door – standing outside smoking for the whole meeting. We need to participate in our recovery if we want to get sober and live happy, joyous and free. Surely we will have down times but we must put in a concerted effort in order to harvest a great life!
