It’s for Love…

“If you wish to travel far and fast, travel light. Take off all your envies, jealousies, un-forgiveness, selfishness, and fears.”

— Glenn Clark

Diana with 27 year old Mentally Challenged young man.

I was speaking with my friend Keith recently about how my family raised me. My parents were givers and believed in helping others that are less fortunate. The week of Christmas my parents would dress us all in elves outfits, my father was a Toy Soldier and my Uncle was Santa Claus and we would go to the State Hospital for the Developmentally Challenged to sing Carols, give gifts and visit the children with Santa. Every year we would do this!

I believe this is why I am who I am today. These consistent acts of caring, kindness and giving made me and my siblings who we are today. Yesterday, Diana spent the day traveling and visiting a poor community in a rural area outside of Medellin Colombia visiting indigent families and bringing food and gifts to them. They do this is the name of love, compassion and kindness. I asked her why? She said because they need us. They live in poverty and they have nothing. Look at there homes and clothes.

I am so proud of her for this, her mother, sisters and friend Lina, simply took a bus out to the finca with gifts and food they purchased on their own without a cause! It was not about religion, politics, or for a not-for-profit, it was simply an act of love. A place her mother a retired seamstress frequents often to offer care on her own dime. Never to ask for anything from them or from anyone else for them!

Funny thing is Diana did not ask me for a penny to help, she simply went. Of course, my grandiose thinking was why not ask me? We could have sent real toys and had it catered! Her response was, “amor, es por LOVE, solo”.

Take a look at the pictures and enjoy the joy you can see in their eyes! Life is good!

Go, Go, Go…

Dan 🙂
