Hidden Miracles of the ‘Wrong Choice’
by Carol Adler*
Sometimes without even knowing what we’re doing, we end up traveling on a one-way street the “wrong” way. Feelings of failure or regret about making the “wrong choice” make us feel even worse.
Alcohol, drug and other addictions soothe and medicate the pain and may even make it possible to sleep through our own crash landing.
When we wake up, however, the pain is even greater.
So now, here’s the big question: In the midst of all this despair, how could it be possible that a miracle is just around the corner—one that is custom-made just for you or me—or anyone?
How can all this bad stuff be re-constructed into a New Life and a New You?
The Secret to Recovery
Some of you have already discovered that you not only asked for all those feelings fear, anger, resentment and a deep sense of emptiness inside—but you actually called them in from the universe.
Yep, that was you standing on a mountain and calling: “Hey You Up There! I need something large and challenging enough with enough friction to make me wake up to the greater reality of life—to all the gifts I have inside that are just waiting for me to rub two sticks together to start my fire!”
Wow! Is that really you talking? And is anybody listening?
You bet they are! Thousands, possibly millions of people just like you have created enormous challenges in their lives just so they could get to the point of no return—and then turn that corner.
I know this is true because I’m one of those persons who’s been there, done that… and the first lesson I learned was that there is no “wrong” in this world, just as there is no such thing as “failure” or “not being good enough.” These are self-created illusions.
The secret to recovery is allowing yourself to look in the mirror and say, “Here’s where I am today and I accept that, just as I accept that the past is behind me. I also forgive myself for whatever I felt I needed to put myself through in order to get to this Powerful Point of Decision.
“THANK YOU, Higher Self or Whoever You Are, for opening my eyes. Now I’m ready to create a Win-Win for you and for me and everyone else!”
You may think your personal recovery story is ordinary because you are not a rock star, super-athlete or film celebrity. You are just you.
Yet somehow that former addiction to “being nobody” or “poor me, ain’t it awful” isn’t working the way it used to, is it? And why not? Because you have now acknowledged and affirmed that every person is unique and no one’s life is ordinary—certainly not yours!
The process of reviewing your life and exploring all those ping!—ping! moments of joy and self-pride can be one of the most exciting journeys you will ever take. Your story really is a Win-Win that the whole world wants to hear. They want to know how you got from there to here—what that moment of decision felt like and what happened to you inside as soon as you “saw the light,” or “took that first step.”
However it happened for you is exactly how it can happen for millions of others—and YOU can be the person to make a difference in their lives by sharing your successful recovery story with them.
