I was recently asked this question! Can you cry under water? Got ya thinking huh? I am going to assume that is exactly what they were trying to do. Get us to think!
In 1956 Earl Nightingale recorded the first and only Gold Record in the spoken word – self improvement industry, “The Strangest Secret”. He opens the message off with this comment; some years ago the Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Albert Schweitzer was asked in an interview, what is wrong with people today? He thought for a moment and said “people simply don’t think”!
In recovery we say things like, “Think, Think, Think or Think it through”! These are usually taken as defensive tactics or methods for abstinence. Many recovered folks teach the Power of Positive Thinking! However the A B C ‘s of recovery suggests that we take this a step further. The letter “B” stands for “Be a Student of Life”. Be proactive and on the offensive side of living life to it’s fullest.
To live a happy, healthy, prosperous, clean and sober life we need to be a proactive and productive individual. In order to make good decisions in our life we must have a solid foundation of knowledge, not simply information, but wisdom! The recovered life is a wise life. It is more than a choice of not drinking or drugging it is the implementation of life skills, knowledge and desire to achieve our mission and purpose! It is wisdom! As suggested, I continue to pray for wisdom… Thanks Bill!
Go, Go, Go…
