Be who you are…

“Don’t let what you can’t do stop you from doing what you can do.” – John Wooden

I remember a Toad the Wet Sprocket song many years ago that said, “be who you are if it fits in the system”!  I truly believe that many of us are gun shy because we fear taking the steps necessary to win.  We look at our weaknesses as the reason to not explore our strengths.  We allow people, family, friends or others to rob us of our dreams.  If we look into history and even today all around us we see people that have overcome serious and significant obstacles to become champions.

In the recovered life it is essential to stay the course.  To find our passion and roll with it.  I think back to my friend Brian that loved music, he was passionate about music.  He was a carpenter and relied on that work for his livelihood.  Yet he wanted to be a radio DJ.  If he went for it he would take a serious cut in pay.  Yet he did and now twenty years later he has a professional resume that is second to none.  He went for it and he is winning!

When we take the risk and do not look at the obstacles as exclusions to our journey we win.  That is  relapse prevention at it’s best!  Stay focused, trust in God and win baby win!

Go, Go, Go…
