When I say life gets better and better and better in recovery, I am assuming that you are working at recovery. Because, nothing changes if nothing changes. We must do the work.
If you are not making the progress you want to be making take an inventory of your progress from the beginning of your recovery experience to the present. That usually is a good barometer of your progress. Often I find that one or more of three disciplines have been dropped or have become sporadic from an individuals life when they feel stuck.
Those daily disciplines are your weekly gratitude list, daily prayer and meditation, and your affirmations. One way to handle all three together is what my friend Jimmy calls “Think in Ink”. Take the time every morning to journal. In your journal write down what you are grateful for, your goals, your affirmations, and put your prayer down in writing. Our teacher and coach at The Last Resort Panama, Cecil calls this scripting.
Spend the time to add these disciplines or simply renew your commitment to them and watch the changes come. Joy abounds!
